The CNAME record is also known as the canonical name record. It is used for specifying that a domain name is an alias for another domain, the “canonical” domain. A typical example is the www subdomain which is often set as an alias to the root domain name

The CNAME record is used only for subdomains. You can’t add any other records for a given hostname if this hostname has a CNAME Record. Also, it’s not possible to create a CNAME record if there are any other records for this hostname.

How to add CNAME records in the 5centsCDN console?

Please follow the steps,

  • Login to 5centsCDN control panel.
  • Go to SimpleDNS.
  • Click the Manage button of your domain.
  • On the redirected page, Click the green plus button.
    • Type: Select “CNAME“.
    • TTL: TTL (time to live) is a setting that tells the DNS resolver how long to cache a query before requesting a new one. Select the appropriate TTL.
    • Host: Specify the hostname. for example cdn.yourdomain.com.
    • Points To: Specify the hostname that you want to point to your CNAME.
  • Click the ADD button.
