As a snapshot of three years of development in the digital world of content delivery, IBC 2022 event served as the center of our industry’s evolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the streaming and OTT industries, new challenges are emerging every day. With a global pandemic and political uncertainty, increased cost of living problems emerges that weren’t present prior to the pandemic. There is more to it than just monetization models since players can only reduce your service’s cost so far before losing profitability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advertising is a part of the solution, but it’s only one part of the evolution the industry is naturally experiencing. Businesses in the OTT and streaming technology industry<\/a> are increasingly interested in collaborations and integrations. If you don’t provide the appropriate value for OTT and streaming<\/a> services by not being agnostic, flexible, and cutting-edge, you will be left behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 1,000 exhibitors showcased their products at the first live and in-person show in nearly three years at the RAI Amsterdam from September 9-12. 37,071 visitors from 170 countries attended the show. Michael Crimp, IBC\u2019s Chief Executive Officer, said that it was a pleasure to see, feel and hear the buzz of a live IBC once more. There was a real sense of positivity among visitors and their quality was outstanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s Next For The Industry?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

IBC 2022 event featured over 250 keynote speakers to address the concern of new challenges, and advancements. There was a world-class lineup of headline speakers. The show\u2019s brand-new Changemaker programme, Designing the Future Together, focused on the people side of the business. The members also arranged other cutting-edge sessions at the Innovation Stage of the IBC Accelerator Media Innovation Programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Content Everywhere Stage hosted thought leadership presentations, panels, masterclasses, demos, and case studies. Leading technology brands presented their innovations in the Showcase Theatre. Immersive journalism pioneer Nonny de la Pea’s keynote address “The Godmother of Virtual Reality.” was also a part of IBC2022<\/a>. It was about creative storytelling through modern technology, as well as how entertainment is transformed through this technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many major media, entertainment, and technology companies were showcased at this year’s show. These included Adobe, Amazon Web Services (AWS), ARRI, Avid, Blackmagic Design, Canon, Comcast, Sony, Synamedia, Telstra, and many more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Future Of Operating Systems<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you remember the HD DVD, you might have a better idea of the current situation of device fragmentation. Also, the companies jostling for positions as your streaming service’s platform. As per industry leaders at IBC 2022 event, if you are thinking about developing in the mobile market, you should take into account two primary factors: iOS and Android.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, if you want to display applications on a big screen, what do you do instead? The operating system war is similar to the format war between Blue Ray and HD DVD, where Blue Ray won. With higher application development costs connected with multiple platforms, OTT and streaming services provide less value to the end consumer as they are not available everywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, many participants and speakers expressed their enthusiasm for the return of live and in-person events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the event came to an end, Andrew Cross, Grass Valley’s Chief Executive Officer, explained that IBC is the meeting place for all of the companies that make TV possible.
